3/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. soft shortening
1 egg
1 1/2 c. flour, sifted
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk

STREUSEL MIXTURE:

1/2 c. brown sugar
2 tbsp. flour
2 tbsp. butter, melted
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. cinnamon

Grease and flour 9 inch square pan. Mix sugar, shortening and egg. Stir in milk. Sift dry ingredients and add to batter. Stir to blend. Spread half of batter in pan. Sprinkle with half of streusel mixture. Top with rest of batter, then rest of streusel. Bake at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
