DATE LOAF CANDY 
3 c. sugar
1 c. water
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. pecans
1 c. white syrup
1 c. dates
1 tsp. glycerin
2 tbsp. butter

Mix syrup, water, salt, sugar and bring to a boil; cook for 5 minutes. Add dates and glycerin. Boil until mixture forms a soft ball. Add pecans, vanilla and butter.

Remove from heat and beat until it turns light in color; pour mixture onto a wet cloth and roll into a log. Store until ready to use or until firm.
