6 apples, peeled and sliced thin
4 tbsp. sugar and 2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Mix the above and let stand.

BATTER:

4 eggs
2 c. sugar
1 c. vegetable oil
1/2 c. orange juice
2 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Grease and flour tube pan. Make 3 layers. Begin with batter, then apples. Repeat and end with the apples on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 to 1 1/2 hours. Test for doneness with a toothpick.
