FRENCH APPLE PIE 
1 (9 inch) pie shell
3 or 4 lg. apples
1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 tbsp. lemon juice

TOPPING:

1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. flour
1 stick butter

Pare and cut apples into chunks and place in large bowl. combine sugar, flour and nutmeg. Sprinkle over apples and mix well to coat apples and drizzle lemon juice over apple mixture. Put into pie shell. Combine topping ingredients in bowl and mix well. Sprinkle over top of pie. Place pie in a large heavy brown paper bag and fold end over. Fasten with 2 paper clips. Bake for 1 hour at 425 degrees in bag.
