HARD TIMES CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
2 c. sugar
1 c. sour cream
3 c. flour
3 eggs
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Bake in layers and spread with jelly.

FROSTING:

1 cup sugar with a little water in it; boil to a syrup. Beat the white of 1 egg. Take syrup from stove. Add the egg and beat until cool.
