CHOCOLATE CHIP OATMEAL 
1 c. shortening, part butter & Spry
3/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. white sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. hot water
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. oatmeal
2 pkgs. chocolate chips
1 c. nutmeats (opt.)

Sift together 1 1/2 cups sifted flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda and 1 teaspoon salt. Cream shortening, add sugar and eggs. Add liquids, then dry ingredients. Mix the oatmeal. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts last. Place in refrigerator overnight. Drop by teaspoon into a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 14 minutes.
