BETTER THAN BEEF HOUSE
BUTTERMILK ROLLS
 
1 pkg. dry yeast
1/4 c. lukewarm water
1 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. shortening
2 1/2 c. flour

Dissolve sugar and yeast in lukewarm and set aside. Heat buttermilk to lukewarm, add sugar, soda, salt, and shortening, add yeast. Knead in sufficient flour to make soft dough. Place in greased bowl in a warm place and let rise until double in bulk. Form in parkhouse rolls or desired shape.

Bake at 375 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
