OLD FASHIONED POUND CAKE 
2 c. butter (1 lb.)
2 c. sugar (1 lb.)
4 c. cake flour (sift before measuring)
10 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift flour and salt together. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes). Add whole egg, one at a time. Beat thoroughly between each egg. Do not stop mixer while adding eggs. (Beat about 2 minutes for each egg.) Add 1/2 the sifted flour and salt. Beat 1 minute, add rest of flour and beat 1 minute scraping flour from side of bowl.

Pour into well greased and floured 3 quart tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 1/4-1 1/2 hours. Remove from pan immediately after taking from oven. Cool on cake rack.
