OLD - FASHIONED POUND CAKE 
2 sticks butter
1/2 c. Snowdrift or Crisco shortening
3 c. sugar
5 lg. eggs
3 c. plain flour
1 c. milk
2 tbsp. cocoa may be used if desired
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening and butter and sugar. Add eggs and mix well. Add flour and milk alternately. Stir in vanilla and COCOA IF DESIRED. Bake in prepared pan at 325 degrees until it tests done, about 1 1/2 hours.

NOTE: This is a good basic cake. It bakes well in layers, tube, bundt, flat or cup cake tins.
