BOILED RAISIN COOKIES 
1-1/2 c. boiled raisins
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening (part butter adds flavor)
3 eggs, beaten
3-1/2 c. all-purpose flour
Dash salt
1/2 c. ground nuts

Boil raisins in small amount of water for 5 to 7 minutes. Take 1/3 cup of raisin juice and add 1 teaspoon baking soda and set aside.

Cream sugar and shortening, add beaten eggs, flour, salt and nuts to raisin mixture. Drop from teaspoon.

Bake in a preheated 400°F for 10 to 12 minutes.
