SHRIMP GUMBO 
1 lb. frozen shrimp
2 c. sliced fresh okra
1/3 c. oil
2/3 c. green onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, mashed
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
2 c. hot water
1 lb. link sausage, sliced
1 c. tomatoes, peeled
2 bay leaves
3 drops Tabasco
1 tsp. file' powder
1 1/2 c. cooked rice

Saute okra in oil until it is almost dry. Stir constantly. Add onion, garlic, salt and pepper. Stir and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Add shrimp; cook for 5 minutes. Add water, tomatoes and bay leaves. Carefully add sausage. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove leaves; add Tabasco and file' powder. Stir and remove from heat. Serve in deep soup bowls over hot, cooked rice. Serves 6.
