APPLE CRUMB SQUARES 
BASE & TOPPING:

2 c. oats (quick or old fashioned), uncooked
1 1/2 c. flour
3/4 c. butter, melted
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. nutmeg

FILLING:

1 c. commercially prepared applesauce
1/2 c. chopped nuts

For base and topping:

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease 13 x 9 inch baking pan. In large bowl, combine all ingredients; mix until crumbly. Reserve 1 cup mixture. Press remaining mixture onto bottom of prepared pan. Bake 13 to 15 minutes. Cool.

For filling:

Spread applesauce over partially baked base; sprinkle with nuts. Sprinkle reserved 1 cup oat mixture over filling. Bake 13 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Cool; cut into 2 inch squares. Makes 24 squares.
