SOUTHERN STYLE CORNBREAD 
1 c. cornmeal
1 c. flour
1 c. milk
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. oil

Mix ingredients until smooth. Pour into greased 8 x 8 inch pan, loaf pan or muffin tins. Bake in 425 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes.

I have prepared this recipe on several occasions. It is truly my favorite. My husband likes a sweeter cornbread, so I add 4 tbsp. sugar instead of 2 and he is as happy as clam. I've tried others but they tend to crumble, This one holds together fairly well and it freezes well.
