BABKA 
1 cake yeast, dissolved in 1/2 c. warm milk
1 lb. flour, sifted (3 1/4 c.)
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. sugar
2 eggs plus 2 egg yolks
1/2 c. sour cream
5 tbsp. melted butter
1 c. golden raisins

Dissolve yeast in warm milk. Make a well in flour. Add eggs and yolks, sour cream, and yeast mixture. Knead until it blisters. Add melted butter and knead in. Let raise; punch down and let raise 1/2 hour. Cut into 3 pieces. Pull each piece until 12 inches. Roll raisins in each piece and twist the roll loosely. Braid and form circle. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.

Also: If wanted, put on candied cherries and pecans; brush top with some egg white.
