THE BEST SUGAR COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
1 c. soft butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. almond flavor
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Cream sugar and butter. Mix in egg and flavorings. Sift or blend dry ingredients. Gradually add to sugar mixture. Blend well. Chill 2-3 hours or overnight.

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Divide dough into 3 or 4 sections. Roll out on lightly floured surface 3/16 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes. Bake on lightly greased cookie sheets 7-8 minutes. DO NOT OVERBAKE UNTIL BROWN.

NOTE: Can be frosted and decorated, or just put a tiny flower and leaf for a delicate look.
