APPLE CREME COFFEE CAKE | |
1/2 c. walnuts or pecans 2 tsp. cinnamon 1 1/2 c. white sugar 1/2 c. butter 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 2 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda 1 c. sour cream 1 med. apple, pared and cored Mix walnuts, cinnamon and 1/2 cup sugar in small bowl; set aside. Cream butter and remaining sugar; add 1 egg at a time. Add vanilla; beat until blended. Sift flour, baking powder, salt and soda together. Add alternately with sour cream to batter. Spread 1/2 of it in a 9 x 13 inch greased or angel food pan. Top with apples, 1/2 nut mixture and remaining batter and remaining nut mixture. Bake for about 40 minutes at 375 degrees. Makes 10 to 12 servings. |
