CHOP SUEY | |
1 lb. chop suey meat 3 tbsp. oil 1 c. chopped onions 2 tbsp. molasses 4 tbsp. soy sauce 1/2 c. water or stock 1 tsp. salt 1 c. thinly sliced celery No. 2 can bean sprouts Cut meat in small cubes, if not already cut. Heat the oil in a heavy skillet and brown the meat cubes. Push the meat to one side and brown the onions lightly. Add molasses, soy sauce, stock, salt and celery. Cover and simmer over low heat for 3/4 hour. Add more water if necessary. Add bean sprouts; cover and simmer 1/2 hour longer. If the liquid needs thickening use cornstarch or flour blended with a little cold water. Serve with rice. Makes 6 servings. |
