TURNIPS WITH SEASONED CREAM
SAUCE
 
6-8 med. turnips (about 2 lbs.)
2 tsp. flour
1/2 c. evaporated skim milk
3 tbsp. minced onions
1/4 tsp. dried thyme
1/4 tsp. grated nutmeg
1/4 tsp. black pepper

Rinse turnips; pierce skin. Place about 1" apart on a paper towel in the microwave. Cook on High for 6 to 8 minutes. Let stand 3 minutes. Trim, peel and quarter the turnips. Arrange in a casserole.

Whisk the flour, milk, onions, thyme, nutmeg and pepper in a cup. Microwave on High for 30 seconds. Stir, then microwave for 30 seconds more. Let stand for 1 minute. Pour over turnips and toss. Microwave on High for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. Serves 4.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
