1/2 c. salt 1/2 c. hot water 1/4 c. cold water 1/2 c. cornstarch 1. In a pan, mix salt and hot water, heat to boiling point. 2. Stir cold water into cornstarch in a small bowl. 3. Add cornstarch mixture to boiling water. Stir vigorously to break up lumps. 4. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is like stiff pie dough. 5. Remove from heat and turn out onto a bread board to cool. 6. When cool enough to handle, knead until smooth and pliable.. Use to make decorations. Cut with cookie cutters. It hardens in 1 to 2 days. It dries white and can be painted. To speed up drying bake at 200 degrees for 1 hour. It will keep for a while if you store in air tight container. |
