HASTY PUDDING - VERMONT STYLE 
3/4 c. maple syrup
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
1/4 c. butter, melted
1/3 c. water
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. brown sugar, dark
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. raisins or nuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine syrup and water in sauce pan and bring to a boil. Combine remaining ingredients, except for nuts and mix until smooth. Pour into greased casserole. Top with nuts or raisins. Pour boiling syrup mixture over all. Bake 35 to 40 minutes. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
