GIFT OF NORWAY 
1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. cocoa
2 c. very strong coffee
1 c. raisins, chopped
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 c. flour, sifted, all-purpose
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. ground cloves

Combine coffee, 1 cup sugar, cocoa, raisins in saucepan. Bring to boil, simmer 15 minutes. Cool. Cream butter with 1 cup sugar. Add eggs and vanilla, beat well. Sift remaining ingredients and add to coffee mixture. Bake in a greased 10 inch square cake pan in oven preheated to 350 degrees for 1 hour. Cool. Sprinkle confectioners' sugar over paper lace doilies. Serves 8.
