COOKIES ON A STICK | |
1 c. sugar 3/4 c. butter 2 eggs 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract 1 tsp. lemon extract 3 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt (Wooden sticks) COOKIE: Beat sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Blend in egg and extracts. Add combined dry ingredients; mix well. Chill several hours or overnight. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. On lightly floured board roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness, cut with desired cookie cutters. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Slide stick under each cookie to center. Gently press dough around stick. Bake 9 to 11 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool slightly. Remove from cookie sheet. Cool. GLAZE: Combine 1 tablespoon corn syrup and food coloring. Paint cookies using small brush. NOTE #1: (I just used egg yolk and teaspoon water and food coloring, then painted before I baked them. Divide egg mixture in several dishes for several colors). NOTE #2: I wet stick ends before sliding under cookies. |
