KATSUDAN (Meat In A Bowl) 
1 lb. pork
1 sm. onion, coarsely chopped
1 1/2 c. water
1/2 c. soy sauce
1 chicken bouillon cube
1/3 c. sugar
1 med. can English peas
1 c. rice
Flour
1 egg

While cooking rice, cut pork into thin strips. Bread strips of pork in egg and flour. Cover the bottom of a large skillet with about 1/8 inch of cooking oil and heat to 375 degrees. Brown the breaded pork strips and remove to a bowl. Rinse the skillet.

Combine water, soy sauce, bouillon cube, sugar and onion in skillet and heat to a boil. Simmer 5 minutes, add pork strips and simmer another 5 minutes.

Drain can of peas and add to skillet. Simmer 3 minutes and remove from heat.

Spoon rice into bowls. With slotted spoon, cover rice with pork, peas and onions from skillet. Spoon a couple of tablespoons of sauce from the skillet over each bowl. Serve hot.
