HOT FUDGE PUDDING CAKE 
1 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. sugar
2 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 c. milk
2 tbsp. shortening, melted
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. brown sugar (packed)
1/4 c. cocoa
Whipped cream or Cool Whip

Sift together first 5 dry ingredients. Stir in milk and melted shortening. Blend in nuts. Spread into a square 9x9x1 3/4 pan. In a separate bowl combine 1 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa. Sprinkle this mixture over the mixture in the pan. Pour 1 3/4 cups of hot water over entire batter.

Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. During the baking the cake mixture rises to the top and makes a chocolate sauce settle to the bottom. When you serve it, use a spatula and turn the pieces upside down on a plate. Top with whipped cream or Cool Whip. Serve warm or cold.
