CARNE GUISADA | |
2 lbs. diced beef 1/4 c. chopped onions 1/4 of a bell pepper, chopped 1/2 of a tomato, chopped 1/4 c. tomato sauce 1/4 c. cilantro 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. ground black pepper 1/2 tsp. ground cumin 1/2 tsp. garlic powder 3 slices white bread Add or delete spices to your taste! Brown beef in a large skillet adding a little oil as needed. Stir in onions, bell pepper and tomatoes. Saute ingredients for 2 minutes. Add tomato sauce and stir for 30 seconds. Quickly add 1 cup water or more to cover beef. Add remaining spices EXCEPT bread over and cook in medium heat. Meanwhile, liquify bread slices using 3/4 cup water in a blender. When the beef is done and water still covers it, pour in bread mixture a little at a time, stirring constantly until a gravy is formed. Keep on adding bread mixture until thickened to your liking. Simmer for 3 minutes and remove from stove. If the gravy is too thick, add more water to dilute. Other meats can also be substituted! |
