HAMBURGER STEW 
1/4 lb. bacon
1 tsp. salt
4 onions
6 potatoes
1 lb. hamburger
1/4 tsp. pepper
6 carrots
1 c. water

Cover bottom of heavy skillet with strips of bacon. Add crumbled hamburger, salt and pepper. Cover hamburger with 2 onions, sliced. Slice 3 carrots on top of onions. Slice 3 potatoes on top of carrots.

Repeat layers of onions, carrots and potatoes.

Place skillet on stove over medium heat. When bacon starts to cook (crackle), add the water. Cover tightly and cook for one (1) hour.
