PASTIES 
CRUST:

2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2/3 c. shortening
1/2 c. water
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1 unbeaten egg

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Mix the remaining ingredients and stir into flour mixture. Chill dough. Roll out into 8" circles.

FILLING:

2 med. potatoes, cut up
1 sm. onion, cut up
1/2 - 1 lb. pasty meat
1/4 c. rutabaga, cut up
1 lg. carrot, cut up
1/2 c. celery, cut up
Salt & pepper

Mix the filling ingredients and put 1 cup of mixture on each circle and seal edges. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
