FRESH BERRY CAKE 
2/3 c. butter softened
1 1/2 c. sugar (1/4 c. for blueberries) or to taste
2 eggs
2 c. all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
3/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. fresh berries (huckle or blue)

In a large bowl beat together butter and 1 1/4 cup sugar (cup for blueberries) until creamy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Combine flour, baking powder, salt and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Mix alternately with milk into butter mixture until batter is smooth. Stir in berries and vanilla. Pour into a greased and sugar dusted 9 x 13 baking dish. Mix together remaining 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle over batter. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven 40 minutes or until a pick comes out clean.

Hints: Use butter; whip butter and sugar until really fluffy; use slightly more cinnamon, less sugar and more berries; try nuts, crushed candy canes, chopped apples.
