CRANBERRY BREAD 
1 pkg. raw cranberries, cut in half or chopped
2 c. sugar
6 c. flour
2 1/4 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
5 eggs
4 1/2 c. buttermilk
1 1/2 c. melted shortening
1 c. nuts

In a medium bowl, combine cranberries with 1 cup sugar - set aside. Combine flour, soda, salt and remaining sugar in large bowl. Combine egg, buttermilk and melted shortening.

Pour into center of dry ingredients. Stir just until mixed. Gently fold in cranberries and nuts. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes for muffins or at 375 degrees for 40 minutes for bread.
