ASPARAGUS CASSEROLE 
1 (15 oz.) can asparagus spears, drained
1/2 c. cracker crumbs
2 tbsp. butter
1 heaping tbsp. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
Dash of pepper
1 c. grated sharp cheddar cheese
1 (3 oz.) can Durkee onion rings

Reserve the liquid from the asparagus. Put asparagus spears in a baking dish and sprinkle with cracker crumbs.

Sauce: Melt butter in a saucepan. Add flour, salt and pepper and brown over medium heat. Add the liquid from the asparagus and cook, stirring frequently until sauce is smooth. Add grated cheese and stir again until smooth.

Pour over asparagus and cook in 350 degree oven for 10-15 minutes. Cover with onion rings and return to oven until brown.
