APPLE WALNUT CAKE 
2 c. all-purpose, unbleached flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. each ground cloves & salt
3 lg. firm apples, peeled, quartered & cored
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter, softened
2 eggs
1 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. raisins

Cream butter and sugar; beat in eggs. Combine flour, soda, spices and salt. Grate apples to measure 2 1/2 cups. Add flour mixture to butter mixture alternately with apples. Do not overbeat. Stir in walnuts and raisins. Continue as directed. Place in greased 9 1/4 x 5 1/4 x 2 1/2 inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour or until cake tests done. Cool on wire rack.
