SPAGHETTI SAUCE 
2-3 lbs. ground chuck or round
2 tbsp. shortening
1 c. chopped onion
1 c. chopped green pepper
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 c. chopped mushrooms
1/2 lb. hot sausage
2 (1 qt.) jars stewed tomatoes or 2 (28 oz.) cans tomatoes, mashed with juice
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
2 tsp. salt
3 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. rosemary
1/4 tsp. thyme
1 pkg. French's Italian style spaghetti sauce mix

Brown sausage, drain grease. Cook ground meat, drain. Sear garlic, onion, green pepper, mushrooms. Add all cooked ingredients with remaining ingredients and cook in crock pot 5 to 7 hours. Stir occasionally. If you are home all day, cook on low on stove in cast iron pot. Flavors blend well if kept in refrigerator 1 to 2 days after cooking, before eating.
