BAKING POWDER BISCUITS | |
4 c. sifted flour 6 tsp. baking powder 10 tbsp. shortening 1 1/3 c. milk 1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. 2. Sift and measure the flour. Add the baking powder and salt. Sift the dry ingredients together into a mixing bowl. 3. Add the shortening to the dry ingredients. Cut in the shortening with a pastry blender or two knives until the mixture looks like coarse corn meal. 4. Add milk and stir until the dough forms into a ball. 5. Place the dough on a lightly floured surface, knead gently 6 to 10 times. Roll or pat lightly with the hand until the dough is 1/2" thick. 6. Cut dough with biscuit cutter which has been dipped in flour. 7. Place biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet. 8. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until evenly brown. Makes 24 biscuits. |
