TOFFEE 
1 stick butter
1 stick butter
1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. water
chopped pecans
3 Hershey bars

Cook butter, butter, sugar and water over medium heat, stirring often, for a very long time (until it reaches hard crack stage on candy thermometer, approx. 12 minutes). Use a heavy pan and stir with wooden spoon because it gets very hot!

Put a layer of chopped pecans in the bottom of a pan. I use a 7 x 11 inch pan; 9 x 9 should be fine. Pour mixture over chopped pecans.

Put 3 Hershey bars on top, give them a couple of minutes to melt, then spread over the toffee. Score the toffee while it is still very hot. Enjoy!

Variation: Use 1 c. packed brown sugar instead of granulated sugar. May use chopped blanched almonds instead of pecans.
