FRIED CORN BREAD 
2 c. self - rising cornmeal
3/4 c. self - rising flour
1 lg. egg or 2 sm. eggs
Buttermilk to thickness desired
1 tbsp. bacon grease

Combine meal and flour; thoroughly mix. Add egg or eggs. Pour in buttermilk until batter is neither thick or thin. Then add grease. Mix well. Drop 1 tablespoon oil in skillet. Fry about 3 cakes at a time. Add shortening and oil as needed.
