ORANGE - DATE BARS | |
1 c. chopped dates 1/2 c. chopped pecans 1/3 c. vegetable oil 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 tbsp. grated orange rind 1/3 c. sugar 1 egg 1/2 c. orange juice 1 c. all-purpose flour Combine dates, sugar, oil and juice in a saucepan. Cook for 5 minutes to soften dates. Cool. Add remaining ingredients. Spread into an oiled 8 x 8 inch baking pan. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool before cutting. Makes 36 bars. Serving size (1 bar) : About 56 calories, 6 g. carbohydrate, 3 g. fat, 1 g. protein, 8 mg. cholesterol, 12 mg. sodium. Food exchanges: 1/2 starch/bread + 1/2 fat. |
