1 gal. vinegar (1/2 strength) 2 tsp. sacharine powder 1 tsp. powdered alum 1 tsp. ground cloves 1 tsp. allspice 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 c. salt Mix dry ingredients. Add vinegar slowly. Mix well and put in gallon jug for future use. Use small cucumbers. Wash, dry and pack in jars. Pour over vinegar mixture without heating, seal. Shake jars a couple of times during the next day or two as spices settle to bottom. Vinegar mixture will keep until used. |
