CANDIED YAMS 
6 lg. sweet potatoes
2 c. sugar
2 c. water
1 stick butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 tbsp. Karo syrup

Cook sweet potatoes but leave firm not soft. Cut potatoes into wedges and place in iron skillet. In separate dish mix all other ingredients and pour over sweet potatoes and cook for 10 or 15 minutes on top of stove. After cooking add 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 teaspoon nutmeg and 1 teaspoon orange flavor.
