DEVILS FOOD PUDDING CAKE 
1 c. sugar
2 c. water
3 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. sugar
3 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 c. milk
1 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Boil together 1 cup sugar and 2 cups water for 10 minutes; pour into an oblong cake pan or baking dish.

Cream butter and 1/2 cup sugar; add dry ingredients, milk, vanilla and nuts. Drop from a spoon into baking dish of boiling syrup. Place in a preheated oven and bake 30 to 35 minutes at 400 degrees.
