ANISSCHEIBEN - HOLY COMMUNION
COOKIES
 
1 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. anise

Sift together and set aside the flour and baking powder. Place the eggs in a liquid measuring cup and add, if necessary, water enough to make 1/2 cup liquid. Place eggs in a mixing bowl with sugar and anise flavoring and beat until very thick and piled softly.

Fold in the dry ingredients, sifting in about one-fourth at a time. Drop by teaspoonful onto generously greased cookie sheets, about 2 inches apart. Set cookie sheets aside in a cool place (not in refrigerator) for 8-10 hours, or overnight. Do not cover cookies and do not disturb. Bake at 350 degrees for 5-6 minutes.
