APPLE PIE IN A JAR | |
4 1/2 c. sugar 2 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. salt 3 tbsp. lemon juice 1 c. cornstarch 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 10 c. water Apples to fill 7 quart jars Peel and slice apples. Mix all ingredients except apples and lemon juice. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until thick and bubbling. Add lemon juice. Fill hot jars 1/3 full of sauce; pack with apple slices and add more sauce to within 1-inch of top. Adjust lids and process in water bath canner for 25 minutes. For pies, pour contents of jar into prepared pie crust. Dot with butter. Top with crust and bake at 400 degrees for 40-50 minutes. |
