Grease waxed paper, use large cookie sheet. Beat 4 egg whites with 1 cup sugar until stiff. Beat 4 egg yolks with 1/3 cup sugar. Add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla until creamy. Put egg yolk mixture on top of egg white, sift 1 1/3 cups plain flour on top. Fold everything with a whisk and spread on a cookie sheet. Bake 10 minutes or until dough comes loose, 375 degrees.
Slip on a sugared cotton dish towel, pull paper off slowly, roll with towel and let cool. Open it and fill with jelly, cherries or your favorite cream. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with chocolate shavings.
