GRANDMA'S CHOCOLATE CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. Crisco
2 eggs
1 c. milk
3/4 c. cocoa
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. boiling coffee

Mix and cream together sugar and shortening. Add eggs. Sift together cocoa, flour, and baking soda. Add alternately, flour mixture and milk to creamed mixture. Add vanilla and boiling coffee. Pour mixture into a 13 x 9 inch baking pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes.

CREAMY CHOCOLATE FROSTING:

3 tbsp. butter
3 oz. baking chocolate
3 c. confectioners' sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Melt butter and chocolate. Blend in confectioners' sugar, salt, milk, and vanilla. Cool to spreading consistency.
