BLACKBERRY JAM CAKE 
1 c. butter (2 sticks)
6 eggs
3 c. cake flour (I use Swan Down)
2 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. allspice
2 c. blackberry jam (1 pint)

Cream butter and sugar. Dissolve soda in buttermilk. Alternate with flour. Add egg yolks, spices, jam. Fold in beaten egg whites. Bake.

ICING:

1 c. sugar
1 c. chopped nuts
1 1/2 c. cream
1 tsp. vanilla

Boil until thick; remove from heat. Add nuts and flavor. Beat for spreading.
