HONEY YEAST BREAD | |
2 tsp. salt 1/4 c. butter 1/4 c. honey 2 1/2 c. scalded milk 1 pkg. dry yeast 1/4 c. warm water 6 1/2 to 7 c. flour Melt salt, butter and honey in scalded milk; let cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add 2 cups flour to cooled milk; mix well. Add dissolved yeast; blend. Add 2 more cups flour. (Can use mixer on low to medium speed.) Continue adding flour until dough is smooth and elastic. Turn out onto floured board; knead until dough is not sticky. Place in greased bowl; let rise 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until double in size. Punch down dough, divide and shape into 2 loaves. Place in greased 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch loaf pans. Let dough rise about 45 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Remove from pans; cool on wire racks. |
