PEANUT BUTTER CANES 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. creamy peanut butter
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Cream butter and sugars until fluffy. Beat in peanut butter, egg and vanilla. Add flour, salt and soda, blending well.

For each cookie, shape 1 level tablespoon of dough into pencil shape about 6 inches long and 1/4 inch thick. Shape in the form of a candy cane. Bake on ungreased baking sheets in 375 degree oven about 10 minutes or until done. Cool cookies on brown or other absorbent paper.

When cool, decorate with red and white confectioners' sugar and water icing and sprinkle with colored sugar, if desired. Tie bow around stem of cane with red and green ribbon. Makes about 4 dozen.
