SWISS TURKEY AND HAM BAKE | |
1/2 c. onion, chopped 5 tbsp. butter 3 tbsp. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1 (3 oz.) can sliced mushrooms, undrained 1 c. half and half 2 tbsp. sherry (optional) 2 c. cooked chicken, cubed 1 c. cooked ham, cubed 1 (5 oz.) can water chestnuts, drained & sliced 1/2 c. Swiss cheese, shredded 1 1/2 c. soft bread crumbs In skillet cook onion in two tablespoons butter. Blend in flour, salt and pepper. Add mushrooms, half and half. Cook and stir until bubbly. Add chicken, ham and water chestnuts. Pour into 1 1/2 quart casserole. Top with Swiss cheese. Mix bread crumbs with 3 tablespoons melted butter. Sprinkle around edges. Bake 25 minutes at 400 degrees. NOTE: Double this recipe to fill a 1 x 13 inch casserole. |
