BUTTERMILK BROWNIES
1 stick butter
1 c. water
1/4 c. cocoa
1/2 c. oil
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine butter, water, cocoa and oil in saucepan. Bring to a boil and pour over mixture of sifted flour, sugar, salt and soda. Mix. Add buttermilk, eggs and vanilla. Blend well. Pour into greased and floured pan, 11 x 16 x 1-inch. Bake 12 to 15 minutes at 400°F. Remove from oven and ice immediately with icing.

Icing:

1 stick butter
1/4 c. cocoa
1/2 c. buttermilk (scant)*
1 box powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. plus chopped pecans

Combine butter, cocoa and buttermilk in saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from stove and add sugar and beat with electric mixer. Stir in vanilla and pecans. Pour over brownies. *Scant - I use a little less than a half cup for not-so-runny icing. Use your own judgement and enjoy.
