BUTTERMILK BISCUIT 
2 c. all purpose flour
2 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/3 c. solid Crisco shortening
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. buttermilk
1/4 tsp. baking soda

Combine all dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender. Stir in buttermilk, when thoroughly mixed, turn onto lightly floured board. Knead and roll flour 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick. Cut with floured biscuit cutter and place on a greased baking sheet; brush tops with melted butter. Bake at 450 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
