GLAZED APPLE DUMPLINGS 
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. cheese, grated
6 tbsp. shortening
1 c. thin cream
3 apples

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add cheese. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add gradually cream and mix lightly with fork. Form into a ball. Roll out dough to about 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into ten 6 inch rounds.

Pare apples; slice thin. Place apple slices on each round dough. Sprinkle each round with a tablespoon of sugar and 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg.

Moisten edges of dough; bring edges together and seal at top. Place in 15x10x2 inch pan. Pour 1/2 cup milk and 1/4 cup water over dumplings. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. Serve with warm brown-sugar sauce.

BROWN-SUGAR SAUCE:

1 c. sugar
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1 c. water
3 tbsp. butter
2 tsp. vanilla
